About Us


The Engineering Department consists of three Registered Engineers, two EIT’s, one  Architectural Designer and one Architectural Design Assistant. Three of the staff are alumni of the University of Georgia. The Engineering Department provides in-house electrical and mechanical engineering, and architectural and interior design services for a diverse range of University of Georgia stakeholders.

 

Services provided include: 

  • Investigates feasibility of modifying existing facilities for OUA and other stakeholders on campus, and helps to develop construction estimates;
  • Investigates, trouble-shoots, and solves operational problems in existing buildings in support of the O&M team;
  • Provides in-house design services utilizing Revit, AutoCAD, and other design software to create stamped and sealed construction documents for renovations around campus;
  • Manages outside design professionals to develop construction documents for FMD projects;
  • Manages building commissioning activities to ensure systems in new and existing buildings operate efficiently;
  • Utilizes SKM and Pipe-Flo modeling software, creates and maintains campus-wide models of electrical and mechanical infrastructure;
  • Provides point cloud scanning of existing buildings to aid in the development of 3D building models;
  • Provides quality control reviews of new and renovation designs being administered by Office of University Architects via Bluebeam;
  • Continually updates and assists in maintaining the UGA Design and Construction Standards;
  • Provides construction administration services for ongoing construction projects.
